Most of us aim to make beautiful and excellent photos. If we take a look at some photos that circulated on the Internet as a photo model, fashion, wedding, and advertising, usually focused on the beauty or perfection.

Then, how can we create beautiful photos? Surely we must learn what is beautiful and perfection perceived by ordinary people.

In a research in the field of psychology, found that people tend to like the photos a bright and high contrast. In addition, people usually love photos that have rich colors, such as landscapes, sunset and sunrise.

People also love photos that look sharp, so the debate between the lens or camera brand which makes images sharper always crowded on photography forums.

In the portrait photos (photos of people), some people even love pictures of beautiful models. A pretty face usually has a form of symmetry and good proportion. Beautiful face also has free skin acne or freckles on the face and of course smooth. Therefore, many photographers use image processing to smooth human face which is usually not perfect.

In a photo portrait of women, usually those who like tall, slim model with long legs, slim waist but large-sized breasts. As for men, people love the chest and abdominal muscular, tall and broad-shouldered.

But be careful because each area and different cultures. For example, in Indonesia, the pretty white woman consider as beautiful, whereas in the west, brown skin more beautiful than white skin that looks pale. Therefore, they love to sunbath to get brown skin.

Create beautiful images are not hard to be imagines:

Good photo composition.

The use / placement of light source / lighting appropriate to highlight things that are beautiful that did not cover.

Mastery of digital imaging to create more beautiful images again (but beware too much!).

Less is more: Focus to the beautiful.

Find a landscape or a beautiful person as model take a shot.

Mastery basic photography and use the right lens.

Note the harmony and balance: color, texture and the relationship between subject and background are to be considered.

Now it’s easy to make beautiful photos, right? But photography is not limited to just making beautiful pictures of course. Photo journalism for example, it is deliberately avoiding pretty and beautiful. Instead seek unfavorable living conditions, such as victims of war, earthquakes and others.

There is also human interest that is only focus on scenes and reality of life such as natural. In addition there are photographers that focus to capture things that are often found around the house. Although for some people will think photography is not beautiful and boring, but with a certain composition and lighting, photos can look more attractive.

Set the Aperture. It will affect the depth of field in the image you capture. If you reduce the aperture then it will increase the depth of field. So sharp area in the photo will be even greater but the sharpness of the image will be reduced overall. Therefore, should you choose to add the aperture, the sharper the area then it will focus on an object. Using a greater aperture will allow you to obtain a faster shutter speed.

Set the ISO. If you add the ISO then it will speed up the shutter speed and possibility to choose greater aperture. Do not use the ISO is too high because it may cause the effect of noise on the photo.

Adjust the focus. Do not use auto focus when you want to take a picture. Set the focus manually. You must ensure focus on areas that most sharply.

Contrary to popular opinion, good photographs not because of luck, but more to the decision-making. Many things to think about before take a photo. For beginners, it’s hard to think so many steps. However, with a continuous exercise, I am sure we will be able to do it naturally.

1. Find an interesting object

Try to choose an interesting object, for example on busy roads, try to take photos of people, a building, car or an activity. Be careful not to put too many elements in your photo. Too much detail will make people who see the photos become confused about what you want to say.

2. The quality and direction of light

Knowing the quality and direction of light greatly affect the atmosphere of the photo. In general, there are three types of light

Hard Light: Usually obtained from a relatively small light source / concentrated. For example: sunlight, camera flash, and flashlight.

Soft Light: Usually obtained from relatively large light sources. For example: soft boxes, reflectors, and the surface of the ceiling.

Diffused light: This model of light coming from the light source is relatively very large. For example, when the overcast sky or covered with clouds.

Direction light (front, rear, side, top, bottom) is also an important aspect to give a certain impression. Look carefully at the direction and quality of light.

3. Composition

The first step in creating a good composition is start from choosing the background. The clean/smooth background is a good first step. Arrange in a way that the photo compositions looks interesting. If you are just starting photography, you can learn the formulas of the composition as a reference. Many rules of composition that can help you make an interesting composition, such as rule of thirds, golden ratio, scale and others.

4. Select the aperture

Lens aperture determines how much light coming into the camera body. Aperture also set the depth of focus. We should determine whether the photos we take have a thin depth of focus or in.

5. Select the shutter speed

If we want to freeze the object, we need to set the shutter speed carefully. To prevent blurry due to hand we also have to follow rules one / lens focal size. Then we observe how fast the object image moves. The photo objects that moving at high speed requires a very fast shutter speed.

6. Choosing a lens

Not all lenses that produce similar results. There is a wide lens, standard lens and telephoto lens. Wide lens gives the impression of the dimensions, distortion, and depth of focus in. On the other hand, telephoto lens to make photographs into two dimensional (compression effect). Make the depth of focus becomes thin and distant object raising.

7. Determine the optimal exposure

The camera usually determines automatically the optimal exposure. However, sometimes setting that made the camera is not in accordance with our wishes. For example, if we want to take photo low key or high key, we have to set back the camera settings, to suit our desires.

8. Timing

For photos still life (no moving objects), timing may not be too important, but for candid photos, especially sports, timing is very important. So, practice to be able to take photos with good timing. Exercise anticipation, patience and take control of your camera, so that it can take a picture with the optimal timing.

Aperture affects depth of field (focus area in your photo). Reducing the aperture (increase the number, for example you choose f/22) will add depth of field, meaning a sharp areas in the bigger picture will include objects near and far, so the sharpness of the picture as a whole actually decreased. So do otherwise, choose a large aperture (small number, eg f / 4), then you will focus sharply only near the focal area.

ISO

Adding ISO will speed up the shutter speed and lets you choose a larger aperture. If you take pictures in the room, larger was the ISO, but do not overdo it (ie: select ISO 600 for shooting inside the house). Select the ISO is too high (above 800), can cause noise (small black spots) in an image starts to look.

Focus

Do not just believe with autofocus camera, check carefully to use the eyes in the eyes of your focal point is located. When photographing the face at close range, make sure the focus falls on the bull’s eye. When photographing an object, make sure the focus was there where you want the sharpest area. Autofocus camera could be wrong and it dropped the focus in addition to objects that you want.

Lens

If you happen to have a SLR camera, choose the best lens you can buy. The lens of good quality can drastically improve the sharpness of your photo. KIT lens that is usually offered for sale as a complete package with the camera is usually the quality of his effort. Do not buy a package of KIT. Lens with good quality is usually characterized by a large aperture (eg f/2.8).

Sweet Spot Lens

The lens has its sweet spot respectively. Sweet spot is certain where the lens aperture will produce the sharpest images. Sweet spot lens two stops are usually located above the maximum limit the ability of the lens aperture. For example, f/2.8 lens for the sweet spot was on the f/5.6. So if you use f/5.6 aperture lens taking pictures with it, your photo will be sharp razor-sharp.

Tripod

Tripod is impractical and inconvenient, but if you are “willing to” bring it, you’ll get sharper photos. Especially if you want to generate HDR or panoramic photos, just let it go bring a tripod.

Here are 10 quick tips for your photography and the ability to add information on your photography, I’m sure a few have ever done but hopefully some others are new information. Click on the sign (if any) on the right of each tip to see more detailed information. Please:

1. To practice your panning skills, take object that is moving at normal speed (people ride motorcycles, for example), use the shutter priority mode and sets a maximum shutter speed of 1 / 30 second, slower is better. Watch your background!

2. For macro shooting (super close range), activate your Live View digital camera for easier check depht of field and focus.

3. CPL Filter (polarization) is very useful to eliminate the reflection of sunlight on water and glass, and also serves to improve the color of the sky.

4. When photographing babies / children, make sure you focus on the eye. Nothing can beat the beauty of the eyes of children.

5. For silhouette image, make sure you turn off the flash and use the sunset mode (for a pocket camera), for SLR use manual mode and measure the exposure in bright areas behind the object.

6. Download the pdf version of the manual for your camera, so you easily perform a quick search for the word you want to know than to flip through pages of paper.

7. Format the memory card in the camera only, never format a memory card computer. In addition to much faster and easier too far safer if you do it on camera.

8. If you have excess capacity of hard disks in computers and like to do photo editing, use RAW format when taking pictures, if not just use JPG.

9. If you really like landscape photography, Photograph in the following hours: from 5 pm to 8 am, and from 4 o’clock until 7 o’clock in the afternoon.

10. To capture HDR, use the auto bracket mode. One more: for a great landscape photograph HDR, wait until it appears a bit cloudy, and start shooting.
